i HAVE AN ADWARE, SPYWARE AND POPUP BLOCKER PROGRAMS ON MY OLD PC, YET I AM STILL GETTING THE POPUPS FOR ADWARE. PC HAS WIN 98 ON IT BUT HAVE A WIN XP CD I CAN DL. AM CURIOUS TO KNOW IF I INSTALL THE NEW OS, WILL IT GET RID OF WHATEVER IS CAUSING THE AD POPUPS?

Yes. Adware/spyware/viruses (lets just call it all malware) works by exploiting vulnerabilities in the operating system to actually sneak changes into OS subprograms. Therefore,malware is OS specific. Loading a fresh OS will load clean modules. Additional benefits: new versions of Windows have improved security features, Note: Microsoft announced a long time ago that they are no longer supporting Win98.
Of course none of this applies if you are loading “free” illegal copies of licensed software. The people who distribute these may have modified them to create huge security holes. Be careful of where you get stuff.

If you or anyone goes back to the site which has the spyware it will come on your new os. YOu need to run firefox ,immunize with spybot as soon as you install a new os . and update your windows throught firefox
