Antivirus Spyware

Antivirus Spyware

Antivirus spyware is spyware that passes itself off as a spyware remover. The internet explorer antivirus, otherwise known as the IE antivirus, is yet again, a rogue spyware remover. This fake spyware software will annoy you with incessant pop ups saying that your computer is infected with spyware and that you need to download some programs to clean it all up. You can pick this spyware up from various spots on the web.

-One big area is if you are trying to watch movies that were just released online. Some sites are pretty safe, but sometimes you’ll pick something up in a download or viewing.

-You may open a file in a media player, and you may need to download and additional fake codes is a real spyware program designed to spy on the user.

-If you are or were using internet explorer, spyware may have infiltrated your system through a weakness in the ActiveX controls. In past experience, I have found that internet explorer has been very weak to spyware, malware and adware because of this weakness in the ActiveX controls. Firefox is probably your best bet for defending against this threat. Chrome is also a good choice.

-A good thing about Firefox is that it will actively protect your computer when you visit a known bad or malicious website. Before it shows you the content, it warns you that you are about to view a known bad site that may possibly contain spyware and or malicious programs.

-You can pick up an antivirus spyware program like IE antivirus from accidentally being redirected to a known bad website. Known as browser hijacking, the IE antivirus program commonly uses this as a vector to infect your computer.

A big sign to tip you off is if you are getting a lot of pop ups while you are not browsing the internet. These pop ups are likely from the antivirus spyware showing you a scan and a link for you to download some other bogus software.

A computer containing this antivirus spyware is running a big risk. The spyware is constantly collecting information, slowing your processing speed and internet connection. To remove the virus manually would be a complicated procedure involving tampering with the registry in your computer.

I recommend a spyware blocker such as Spyware Doctor and a registry cleaner such as Registry Mechanic.  Both are made by PC Tools and are excellent at what they do.

I recommend Spyware Doctor. It has worked for me where other products have failed and actively protects my computer system from spyware attacks.

Avoiding Adware Through Antivirus Software

Detecting adware may be difficult, so it is best to be cautious in downloading, sharing files, and visiting websites.  As a safety precaution, the wisest choice you can make is to safeguard your computer by using antivirus firewall software protection.

Adware is downloaded software that shows advertisements every time you use your computer. The banners that you see on websites and pop-up windows may be adware. Computer users may be unaware that they have already downloaded adware because it usually goes along with downloading free software or visiting websites.  When pop-ups window appear on your screen, clicking the “”Cancel”" button may even trigger the downloading of adware and even spyware.

It is best to know other ways on how adware can enter your system. Be especially cautious when downloading free computer games or when playing online computer games that require you to download a program.  Also, using fake search engine websites can cause you to succumb to adware.  Avoid using search sites that have not established a good reputation.  Be ware, too, of emoticons used in emails.  Screensavers and desktop themes can also be loaded with adware, so you need to be on the lookout, as well.

Adware usually monitors your online activities, such as the usual sites that you visit. It may also affect the general performance of your computer, thus causing a possible slowing down of the performance of your computer. That is why there are antivirus programs that have adware prevention and removal features. You can actually protect your computer from this threat with the help of an antivirus application.

You have to keep your antivirus updated.  Out-of-date antivirus software may not be able to detect the new kind of threats, so using them for the protection of your computer is pointless. Always set a schedule for scanning your computer and control the settings of your antivirus program. There are actually antivirus applications that block pop-up windows, thus adware exposure is minimal. So, make sure that the pop-up blocker is set. Websites are also scanned by the program to ensure no malware is found on a website you are browsing. You may usually see a green check mark beside the website URL when browsing as an indication that the site is clean. There also are antivirus programs that contain a built-in firewall which will filter only those authorized files to go in and out of your computer system. The firewall will ask your permission for any suspicious changes within your computer.

Adware programs are generally created by companies to keep track of your computer habits and show their advertisement every time you use a program. It may even collect personal information from you without your knowing it. So, it is best to always have an antivirus firewall software program in your computer just to be safe.

John Roy Foley is a desktop computer security professional who consistently recommends the usage of antivirus firewall software to keep your portable computer free from danger.
